Mobile application Development

Mobile application Development

In this highly competitive market, launching your mobile application across the globe and ahead of the competition means getting it right at the development stage. The Tira Services team has the expertise to create complex, network-integrated applications as part of Tira Wireless’ end-to-end development and deployment process.

Tira Services’ in-depth knowledge of device capabilities and operator requirements ensures no surprises during porting. The development of portable-ready code ensures fewer builds to manage and aggressive family groupings. Furthermore, Tira Services offers flexible localization options for multilingual or single language builds.

Tira Services’ J2ME development offering leverages advanced features and functionality from our award winning Tira Jump platform, including:

  • Highly optimized multi-layer tile engine – for creating rich, immersive game environments.
  • Powerful run-time image manipulation engine – allowing for 2-3 times as many game characters.
  • Advanced resource optimization and bundling techniques – for maximizing JAR space.
  • Graphical font engine – ensuring visually appealing, pixel-perfect screen layouts.
  • Battle tested memory manager – for pushing the limits of heap utilization while eliminating crashes.

Mobile Content Deployment

Mobile Content Deployment Services

While Tira Wireless’ technology can be licensed for in-house use, we also provide the flexibility and convenience of a complete suite of services that can be leveraged to outsource the development and deployment of mobile content.

Our team delivers content on a global scale, on time and on budget. This expertise has been gained through porting approximately 400 titles, resulting in over 30,000 builds delivered, with localization to 9 different languages.

Device and Operator Knowledge Base

Device and Operator Knowledge Base

The Device and Channel Knowledgebase is the heart of the Jump platform. The knowledgebase is the centralized database comprised of device profiles, channel information as well as a repository of Jumplets that enable collaboration when developing mobile applications.

Device profiles include physical characteristic and capabilities including:

  • Supported API’s
  • Software platform (MIDP & CLDC versions, etc.)
  • Hardware platform info (JAR limit, screen size, etc.)
  • Protocol support (HTTP, HTTPS, etc.)
  • Personalization content details (wallpaper and audio formats, etc.)

Channel information includes information such as supported devices, languages, channel-specific technologies as well as proprietary submission and marketing requirements.

The Jumplets provide the code that will transform mobile content from one device to another and can include Tira Wireless-certified as well as user-generated Jumplets.

Tira Wireless’ unsurpassed device and channel knowledgebase includes:

  • 925 devices supported representing 38 handset manufacturers
  • 8,069 unique device/operator combinations
  • 1,982 devices in physical inventory
  • 120 channels (mobile operators, content portals, etc.)

Packaging & Delivery

Packaging & Delivery

Deployment Manager manages the submission of production builds, marketing assets and content metadata to global channels; it provides quick and easy deployment for:

Content can be submitted to the channels once a deployment plan is complete. Deployment Manager can directly submit a deployment payload to the Operator or a password protected zip file can be created for manual submission via FTP or Web submission. A complete submission history is maintained to track the status of all content from delivered right up to "live on deck".

Mobile Proting

Mobile Porting

Tira Jump 2007 is based on the concept that between any two mobile devices there are a finite set of differences. Tira Jump contains, maintains and updates differences between mobile devices and provides integrated consoles that manage the mobile content development, porting, and optimization to support new handsets.

The Jump Developer Desktop manages the porting and optimization of reference mobile applications to support new handsets. It provides a collaborative development environment that focuses on code re-use to ensure that development teams are productive and able to seamlessly share code across a workgroup or across a distributed network of development studios. The Jump Developer Desktop is a plug-in for the Eclipse IDE, which enables content developers to leverage the existing source code of an application and apply re-usable code that transform the source code and optimize the application for any target device.

Workflow/Asset Management

Workflow/Asset Management

Deployment Manager provides a production dashboard to control planning, task management, packaging and delivery of mobile content. Project managers can now manage all aspects of the production process from the initial submission of source content to the many task assignments leading to the final target content completion. Deployment Manager also manages any associated creative assets, providing controlled access to the right assets at any time in the adaptation and optimization process.

Deployment Manager includes a Partner Module that extends an organization's project control beyond traditional boundaries to include its partners. The Partner Module enables the workflow engine to manage an entire ecosystem of developers, publishers and porting houses – all controlled through a single interface.

Deployment Planning

Mobile Content Deployment

When managing mobile content deployments today it is imperative that managers have visibility of Mobile Operators and the many handsets they support in order to make strategic planning decisions for their mobile business. This critical information provides the foundation to maximize the deployment of their mobile content while reducing their costs.

Tira Jump includes “Deployment Manager”, a hosted application that enables content providers to optimize the deployment and delivery of all of their downloadable mobile content to channels worldwide. For the first time content providers can manage the porting and deployment of mobile content across a broad range of handsets and operator networks from within an integrated platform. Deployment Manager replaces the many spreadsheets and homegrown systems, in effect streamlining the deployment process.

Deployment Manager includes modules for:

  • Deployment Planning: build deployment plans that identify target operators and mobile handsets.
  • Task Management: create, assign and manage deployment tasks from start to finish.
  • Content Delivery: package and delivery content to mobile operators and portals directly or indirectly by exporting assets into a zip file for manual delivery.
  • Asset Management: provide a secure repository for managing deployable assets as well as marketing assets and metadata.
  • Deployment Status: track the status of all deployed assets from delivery to live on deck.
